Audience effect Theory

Image
  1) Write a definition of a  passive  audience:  were people dont agree on the same thing eg advert for food 2)  Write a definition of an  active  audience:  more modern accepted view that audience interact with the and make conscious 3) Write a definition of the  hypodermic needle  theory:  This is the suggestion that audiences are always  passive  and therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds. This assumes no individual difference in audience members.  4) Write down a  media product  for each category of Blumler and Katz's Uses and Gratifications theory and  WHY  it fits that particular audience use/gratification:  INFORMATION/SURVEILLANCE:    > Why:  PERSONAL IDENTITY:  > Why:   DIVERSION/ENTERTAINMENT:    > Why: RELATIONSHIPS:   > Why:  5) Re-watch the clip from Blue Planet above and write a  paragraph  analysing how elements of the clip offer the audience pleasures or gratifications (use media terminology from Use

Reception theory

  1) What is the preferred reading of a media text? preferred reading means what the producer wants you to think  2) What is the oppositional reading of a media text? giving the consumer opposite meaning  Re-watch the trailer for the film Harry Brown: 3) How does the Harry Brown trailer position the audience to respond to the teenage characters in the film? consumer may think harry brown is energetic man  4) Why might young people reject this reading and construct an oppositional reading of the trailer? the consumer may think young people are arrogant and dangerous Look at this McDonald's advert: 5) Write a 150+ word analysis of the McDonald's advert using preferred, negotiated and oppositional readings. the producer wants us to think wee hungry so we can go and eat theyre product and cheep and nice opposite readers may think its bad for you because it has alot of fat and makes you obesse

8 mark question

(i forgot how to do it) but ill try  this advert is using a child because it is more shocking for the consumer. we know this because of his sad facial expression. we can tell from the background that it is a struggling and in poverty another point for this is because the boy is wearing dirty and old clothes using a medium close up  this makes us want to donate to the producer and want us to focus on the sad kid and make us understand that he is in need we can tell this because of the 'water aid' logo and the water drop that stands for thirst and sad tear the producer wants to donate to help out and provide with the kids need.

October assessment learner response.

www: you are starting to use media terms (words) like 'consumer' and 'logo' and 'portray' which is excellent and, at times' you glue detail from the product to support your ideas. EBI: the main problem is you don't understand what the question is asking u and then you lose marks saying the wrong answer make sure you read the question carefully and break them down and revise go words again. Q1=1ODO Q2 = 1  Q3= 1  Q4+Q5+0  Q6=1 Q7=2 Q8=4 Q9=4 I think I missed out questions and didn't get full marks on them because I didn't understand the question right number 7 I did well in it because it was a well detailed answer and made effective points. my weaker question was number 5 and 6 because I didn't understand the question right and wrote the wrong answer ll do last q
