Class: Industry and Audience blog tasks
industries:
1) What was the point of BBC3 when it was launched? You can find the answer in the notes above.
it was lauched to show it was aimed at a younger audience and mainstream and for teenagers 15-25 eg they had 60 second news because younger audience find it boring also show a controversial comedy, mature and distinctive alot younger target audience than bbc1 and bb2
2) Why did BBC3 go online-only in February 2016? (consider how young people consume media and give a statistic from the notes to prove your answer)it went online because most teenagers spend most of their times on their electronics and phones the amount of audience decreased so bbc3 highers the target audience to increase in viewers and even lost audience because of bad scheduling
3) How does Class meet the BBC's mission statement to 'inform, educate and entertain'? Use your own words and try to say how it is entertaining (with at least two examples from the episode) and how it is educational / informative (give at least two examples from the episode)
It's informative and educational because it features normal gay relationships and strong women and a strong disabled mother which is not conventional and is ground breaking however its not really as positive and diverse because its really only normal because he's an alien and and the mum learns how to walk this is subversive and not as unique. It is entertaining and amusement for the audience because of the amount of CGI and special effects for example the scene of the shadow king fighting humans which had a lot of futuristic elements and appealing to younger people because they prefer video games .
4) Why did Class not do very well with audiences? Give three reasons in your own words.
Class didnt do very well because it had alot of unnecessary sense and everything was happening too quick also was tricked into getting doctor Who into it and not many carried on watching because he wasnt in the show for long and and already had a built in fan base more than class
5) Why do you think the fact that it was a Spin-off show from Doctor Who was not successful?
